I recommend everyone making one of these as it was an adventure in reminiscing. I had to look through like 4 photo albums when I was finished. Plus, if and when I die, people and especially my kids can read this and know who I was, all the small things.
1. According to my driver’s license, I am 6’ 0”. I claim to be 6’ 0” whenever asked. I’m really 5’ 11 ½ ”. But it’s just easier to say 6, PLUS with any shoes on I really am 6, so there.
2. I love getting a new scent (perfume) on a big trip or event in my life. I like to associate smells with memories.
3. I am the proud mommy to Sophia Finley, who was born on June 7, 2007. I LOVE her middle name. I almost wanted to use it as her first name. LOVE IT!
4. I love the thrill and excitement and even danger of hearing a storm rolling in and thunder shaking the house.
5. I fell in love with British Golden Retrievers when I was on a ski trip in Breckenridge Colorado in college. We went out for the evening in the town looking for t-shirts and this British Golden Retriever was tied up outside a shop and I fell in love at first sight. I was kissing it, hugging it and took a picture with it (I still have it) and wanted to steal it (no joke). This dog was so well behaved and smelled good and was so soft. I vowed that night that one day I would have a dog like that. And when I got married, we got our Raja!
6. I have super sonic radar to bugs. I can spot a bug a mile away. I guess maybe I am just always on the look out, but I will always be the first to notice a bug on the ceiling, on the wall, or on the floor. It doesn’t help that we have a shake shingle roof and Silverfish LOVE wood roofs. The fear comes from when I was little my mom would always scare me with bugs and chase me around the house with them. I made my husband promise 'on his love' that he would never tease me with bugs. He did, and he has never and I will never do that with my kids!
7. I always have been really good at noticing details. For example, I know if even one thing has been moved in my messy craft room or on my desk. I think I must take a mental snap shot of how I leave everything and just tune right into that when something is not right. I always thought that I would be a really good CSI agent (funny, I don’t even watch those kind of tv shows!)
8. I was raised Catholic. I believe that God is always with me. I can pray to him whenever I want, just right here now. I also believe that there is a Heaven, but when you die your spirit becomes angel-like and looks over loved ones still living. I really like going to Boys Town’s mass. They relate the sermon to the youth and real-life scenarios and lessons that you can really use. It’s not so abstract. I also don’t really believe in visiting graves. I always just know the people I love that have died are right here with me and I don’t need to go to their grave sight to ‘talk to them’.
9. I tried to play the flute in 4th grade because my mom played when she was a girl. I FAKED the whole thing. I didn’t know how to even play one note. I would fake everything even in the concert, I just pretended I knew what I was doing. It didn’t last very long. I think I only played for maybe half a year. I don't play any other instruments. I did sing in choir, so I know how to read notes (although a little rusty). I loved being in the choir. I don't like performing solo, but I love being part of a group where you blend in.
10. I love all kinds of music. The more unusual the better. I like music from other countries with weird instruments and cool beats. If I would have to pick, I would say my least favorite music is R&B, I find it dull and boring and too slow. I love a great beat, no matter what the words are.
11. I was born in Omaha and have lived here my entire life, except when I went to college in Lincoln for 4 years. I think it is the perfect size, not too big with tons of traffic, you can still get anywhere in 15 minutes! It is getting so many big-name events. I just love it. I have heard from so many people who have lived in other cities that Omaha is the best and nicest place, with the nicest people they have ever lived. I'm proud of my city.
12. One of my favorite childhood memories was at the house I grew up in, we had a huge garden up on a raised terris in the backyard. One summer my dad got this gigantic, plastic tarp, it was wide and long and we used it as a slip n’ slide to go down the hill and into the backyard. It was so much fun. We played on that the entire summer so much that we wore the grass down to mud. I didn't like the grass cutting sticking to my wet legs though.
13. In school I could never remember anything I read. My mind would wonder and I would not even know what the last page I looked at was about. I would skim for answers to questions and just pay attention in class when we would go over books we were reading. I love reading books I'm interested in though. Just wish I have more free time to read.
14. I love to travel. That is what I would do if I had the money.
15. I like to watch diving, swimming, curling, bobsledding, and gymnastics.
16. I love goofing around and talking with a southern accent or any accent especially with my hubby. We make up all kinds of conversations about Billy Bob and Betty Sue. In college when we would work in groups everyone always thought I was from the south. And then I wasn’t trying to have an accent, there have just been so many people throughout my life that have always thought that I had an accent. Weird.
17. When I used to eat eggs, I only liked the white parts of sunny side up fried eggs. I hated the slimey yoke.
18. I never see myself living in another city EVER. I love traveling, but LOVE coming ‘home’. Vernon always talks about living somewhere where the weather is constant the entire year. I would hate not having the different seasons.
19. I always wished my mom would have put me in dance when I was little. It seemed everyone I knew had been in dance and knew how to dance really well. I have always felt I did not have very good rhythm.
20. I always did pretty good in school (A’s and B’s) because the teachers liked me and I would do as many extra credit assignments as I could. I was never a great test-taker and studying never, ever came easy to me, but I could write pretty good essays and papers.
21. Smells that I like: bread baking (Rotellas Bakery is right by our house and we can smell them baking bread at all hours of the day, it is delicious, especially when we go for walks early in the morning is my favorite), Russian Olive Trees in the spring (first week in June, usually), pumpkin spice & vanilla candles, Sophie’s breath after nursing when she was a newborn (I know, weird), new leather, rubber cement, a new textbook, clean clothes out of the dryer, Vernon’s cologne.
22. If I were rich I would have a masseuse come to my house two times a day, EVERY DAY. Once in the mornings to get me energized and ready for the day and once at night to relax me until I fall asleep. And no, I wouldn't get sick of it.
23. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE watching movies that are based on a true story. They always make me cry. Some of my favorites: Radio, Rudy, We are Marshall, Remember the Titans, Erin Brockavich, Titanic, October Sky, Freedom Writers, Seabiscuit and I cold go on, but you get the idea.
24. I am the oldest of three in my family. We are all 2 years apart. I fit the description of first born to a T.
25. My parents have been happily married for almost 40 years. I am very proud of the fact that they are still together.
26. Growing up, we always had family meals around the dinner table each night. I miss that about growing up. I can’t wait to have my own family meals when the kids get older. I always think about if I want to start a tradition of like saying your favorite thing that happened that day and the worst part of the day.
28. I have a bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in Education. I have a masters in Human Services.
29. Jobs I have had: Paper-Girl (lasted for about 3 months when I was 12, hated it. My mom and brothers ended up helping me most of the time), worked for my dad doing different photography stuff (mostly grunt work - carrying equipment, stuffing envelopes, stamping, etc…), babysitting, lifeguard, swim coach, hostess at Grisantis, front desk receptionist at a hotel, Gallup poller, nanny (only for 2 months in college), secretary for a lady who worked at Health & Human Services, Summer work supervisor BT, Assistant Family Teacher BT, Respite Tech BT and Intervention and Assessment Youth Care Worker.
30. When I was little I would spend the night at my Grandma and; Grandpa’s house about once every 2 months. I loved it. Some times it would be with my cousin Hellane. We would have ‘fancy’ dinners with candle-light and eat ice cream. My grandma would always say it was like we were eatin' 'Uptown'! I would give my grandma and grandpa foot rubs and paint my grandma’s toes (she was so ticklish and would always wiggle her toes and I would yell at her playfully and tell her to stop moving and hold them still, which would just make it worse and we would laugh so hard), watch cable tv (we didn’t have it at home) in the morning grandpa would make breakfast with eggs (see #17), and bacon and toast. We would sit on the back porch, play cards and watch the squirrels and make up stories about them. I loved pulling on and playing with my grandma's elbow skin. It was so soft and flappy and fun.
31. My paternal grandparents owned a ski resort (Mt. Crescent) until I was 30 years old. I grew up skiing and loved it. I loved talking to all the people and had fun out there. In college I would drive back from Lincoln every weekend to work out at Crescent in the winter. Snow, skiing and winter are in my blood.
32. We would take trips to Colorado to go skiing almost every year of my life. We went to a lot of different resorts. I have also been to Utah once. Skiing is my ‘high’ in life. My absolute favorite conditions are 30 to 35 degree weather, in a sweatshirt and ear band, sunglasses and warm sun with cool breeze. I absolutely love skiing in fresh powder and going on nice and easy blue runs that are fairly steep but no moguls and no other people on the hill. I love “flying” down fast. It feels like you are floating on clouds. What a rush. And the views are breathtaking. It is seriously the closest I feel to God up their on the peaks of the mountains.
33. I have big feet. Size 10 1/2 to be exact, just like Oprah, but unfortunately they do not carry that size in very many stores. So, I either now squeeze into a 10 or get 11’s that are a little big. Ugh, frustrating!!!! *Update ~ since my first pregnancy with Sophie, my feet grew to a solid size 11. Thank goodness they didn't keep growing with each pregnancy! *Update #2 They are back down now to 10.5.
34. I love Oprah. I think she is great. I see her as a role-model and think her honesty is refreshing. (I always remember my grandpa Keith watching Oprah at 4:00 everyday). I'm sad she doesn't have her show anymore.
35. I love to cook. Over the past few years, I feel like my cooking style has evolved based on all the cooking shows I watch (the Food Network is definitely in my favorites!). It’s kind of fun to discover new recipes and ways to cook and try new dishes.
36. I married an amazing man. We were married on July 10, 2004. We got engaged exactly one year prior to our wedding. We only dated 6 months before we got engaged. After 2 months of dating we were talking about marriage. We were older and just ready. We just knew and there was comfort in that. Marriage is easy if you are with the right person at the right time in your lives. We also had all the names of our future kids picked out after we had only been dating a few month (AND we stuck with them!)
37. I love to make stuff, crafty stuff, especially cards and scrapbooks.
38. I’ve always wanted to be a stay at home mom and have at least three kids (one girl first and two boys and that's what I got), now that I am a mom and work part-time I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I think it is such a great balance. I wouldn’t be a stay at home mom if I had a choice now.
39. In college I roomed with my friend Lori Wies from high school. Everyone told us that it would be a mistake. We didn’t listen and it worked out perfectly. It was nice to go out and meet new people and still have the comfort of having your one friend there with you. I wouldn’t have done it any different.
40. My freshman year of college was probably the best year of my life. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED being in the dorms. It was so much fun. And when I went there, they had men and women on the same floor. Half the floor was the men and half was the women. Lori and I were the first room next to the guys side and right across from the bathrooms (everyone would always stop by to visit). I LOVED it. It was so much fun to become friends with the guys as well as the girls. The best time in my life.
41. I’ve only had a handful of boyfriends in my life. The first was Matt Dunn when I was 17. That was really old to have your first boyfriend at 17. He was way too into me. He would always buy me presents and I was just not that into him, I had to break up with him. There was one guy I kissed at one of the Crescent employee parties. He was a friend of one of the workers, I don’t remember his name. Then I did kiss one guy, Wanch was his nickname, he was my next door neighbors friend in the dorm, but that was it. I didn’t like him either. I kissed one other random guy at a party in Crete when we went to visit Julie, I don’t even know his name, then there was Robbie Brown, I met him when I was 21 out at Crescent, I was the one who was interested in him first and told his friend and then we started talking, I was always so proud of myself for going after someone I was interested in. We dated for about 8 months, he was too immature for me and he had a kid. I never wanted to be a step-mom. Then I decided to try to see what would happen if I put my information on the internet at first, I just did it to see what would happen. I posted a profile on Match.com just to see what I would find. I put out exactly what I was looking for and was really specific and then started talking to some guys. One that worked out was Brandon Bell from Lincoln. We dated for a year. In that year, he moved up to Omaha and we lived in an apartment together, after it didn’t work out (it was mutual) I moved back home. There was one other guy that was a friend of a couple that I went through pre-service with at Boys Town. His name was Nat Hill. He was a football coach at a small college up in South Dakota. He was not what I was looking for. He took me to this small gathering at one of his friend’s house with like 4 other couples. He left me with these women inside that I did not know that all had older kids and I didn't have any thing in common with, while he was out on the deck with all the guys. I was like, nope, if you don’t want to spend time to get to know me, I’m not interested. He said he was just nervous. We dated for a little while longer and he just became more and more annoying to me. I broke up with him. I posted on Omaha Singles.com and went on a date with 26 more guys (there was maybe one or two that I kissed) in 6 months before I found Vernon Schlueter, he was number 27. Lucky 27.
42. The very first time I drank alcohol was at the Employee Party out at Crescent when I was 14. I snuck it in a water bottle and would pour it in my Mountain Dew.
43. I like to clean when I am mad or upset, in silence. I stew and get a lot done and run around the house making sharp movements so the person I am mad at can see that I am upset.
44. I also love to bake. Anything and everything. The older I get the better I get at it.
45. In college I took a trip with 5 or 6 other girls to Chicago. That was my first experience in a taxi cab. I HATED them. I seriously thought I was going to die right there on that trip. They drive like psychos speed up just to slam on the breaks. I could not believe they did not get in more accidents. I just had to close my eyes and pray to God that we would make it to our destination in one piece. So freaking scary. I would literally yell at the drivers to slow down, they didn't listen.
46. I love to take pictures. I wish I was better at it than I am. I also wish I knew how to work my good camera better than I do. I just set it on automatic and go. I am trying to slowly learn how to use other settings. I just love to document my life with pictures. I always have. In high school and college all my friends would roll their eyes every time I busted out my camera at every place we went out to eat and every club we went in and every single thing we did. I just loved remembering those times in my life and I am so glad I have those memories saved forever.
47. I have traveled to the Bahamas in the forth grade with my entire family 19 of us. I have been to Hawaii 2 times with my hubby. The best was Maui for our honeymoon. Priceless!!! I have been to Colorado probably 20+ times, Utah- skiing, Kansas, Florida, Minnesota, North Carolina, California. Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota. *Update ~ New York
48. I’ve always wanted to go to Australia and India and Dubai.
49. I’m not a super girly girl, but I’m not a tomboy either.
50. I love getting pedicures, facials, manicures and massages.
51. I’m very low-maintenance when it comes to products and getting ready. I hate to take a long time to get ready, and I buy all of my make-up at Wal-Mart. I can get ready in the same time Vernon can. Start to finish with a shower 30 minutes. The only thing that takes a little longer is blow drying my hair (he has no hair, no fair).
52. I’ve always had brown hair. And I have always liked it. I would maybe want to try going blond just for a couple weeks to see what it would be like though.
53. In high school I was on the photography staff for my high school yearbook and newspaper. We worked in the dark room developing photos. It was fun and we always got to go off campus to run errands to the photo store. We felt cool that we got to leave school in the middle of the day.
54. I love to wear cool necklaces. I always admired people with funky, cool necklaces that get compliments on them all the time.
55. I am not a car person. I could care less what I drive as long as it gets me from one point to another. Although, I do get really attached to my cars and have a hard time parting with them. I was really upset when we traded my Breeze in for my Envoy. I didn’t want to let it go.
56. I want to bungee jump, ride in an air balloon, experience weightlessness like in space, hang glide, ride a zip cord and swing on the trapeze. I have a reoccurring dream that I can fly. That would be my superpower if I could choose.
57. I skipped school ONE day in my entire life, actually it was only one class. It was in high school and my two friends (Lori Wies and Julie Lund) and I decided that we were going to skip our last class to go study at my house for a test - how lame are we. I was able to leave school with a pass from my yearbook teacher to go ’run a photography errand’ and I called the school to get Julie and Lori out. Well, the school called Julie and Lori’s parents to confirm and so we were caught. We didn’t have a very good plan. As you can see, I am NOT a rule-breaker.
58. I absolutely HATE scary movies. Why would you want to spend two hours in absolute fear? It does not seem like a fun way to spend your time. Not only that, but then be afraid of the dark for days afterwards and of every little sound. No Thanks!
59. I love stationary, office supplies and crafting tools, ribbon and trinkets. They are so much fun to me. No wonder Hobby Lobby is my home away from home. I also love being organized and having a ‘home’ for everything.
60. I love working with kids at Boys Town teaching them behavioral skills. I do feel like I make a connection sometimes and hopefully spark something that will stay with them the rest of their lives.
61. Stores I would visit if I won the lottery: IKEA, Hobby Lobby, Pier One Imports, World Market, & Michaels. I would buy the most luxurious sheets with the HIGHEST thread count. I would also have the softest and fluffiest bath towels I could find (like Oprah).
62. I have always liked my hair. I think I have a good mix, not too thick or thin and I am so thankful that I don’t have really curly hair or course textured hair like my mom’s. I prefer to have my hair in short to medium short cuts that are funky and wild. My dad has always hated short hair, he has an infatuation with long hair. I always hated that. I love short hair. I am glad Vernon likes short hair.
63. When I was little, I was going to the neighborhood pool with my friend Keri and we were walking in our suits and we had a towel. Well, we walked by this house up the street and this dog (it was a cocker spaniel) came after us and it bit my upper leg under my booty when I turned around to run from it. Keri and I were both screaming and we ran back home and told my mom what happened. We had to go back to the house to see if the dog had rabies shots. I don’t really know what ever happened with that. I just remember I didn’t have to get the shots. It’s the only time I was ever bit by a dog and it didn’t make me afraid of dogs, I just hated that one.
64. My favorite color used to be periwinkle, but I think it changed to Teal, Lime Green or Magenta. I just love all bright vibrant jewel tone colors.
65. In my 30 years so far on earth I have learned some things about myself. I have realized that if I don’t want to do something one day, it’s okay, on another day I will want to do it, so I just need to be fine with it and don’t do things I don’t want to do, there will be a day that I want to do it.
66. I love to get mail. (the snail mail variety or e-mail) I get really excited each day when I go and check the mail and there is something besides junk mail. I think that is why I love making cards so much, because someone is going to get that in their mailbox and be excited about it.
67. I always wanted to have a really great garden, but I SUCK at keeping up with the weeds. I like gardens that are organized and minimal, with plants spread apart so it doesn’t look cluttery when they grow. I also have an issue with the bugs and spiders.
68. Memories from my childhood include a lot of driving in the car, I guess running errands. That is how I know so many words to oldie songs. My parents both sing a lot, especially in the car. Listening to them now bring back a lot of memories, there were a lot of songs where my dad changed the words and was trying to be funny. Like in Hey Mickey you’re so fine, your so fine you blow my mind. He changed it to Ricky (my brother).
69. I don’t have very strong nails. They always peel and are not very strong. Every once in a while they will all be long and I cherish those times. I do my own French manicures when they are all long. I was SOOOOO happy because on my wedding day they were all long -well, long for me. I was so proud of them. My ring fingers, pinkies and thumb nails are usually always long, it is the pointer fingers and middle fingers that are usually always short and the weakest. Sometimes at night when we are laying in bed Vernon and I will go through my nails and say short, short, long, short, long. It is really funny because he knows what I am doing and will say it with me.
70. I have had a lot of surgeries over the years. My tonsils out when I was like 6 (I had strep-throat all the time when I was little). I had a bone tumor in my left shoulder and had to have bone taken from my left hip to replace what was taken in my shoulder when I was 20, I had Melanoma skin cancer in a mole on my upper back in the middle (my mom had noticed it looked funny when I was trying on wedding dresses and told me to get it checked out, I did about a month after I was married because there was a coupon in the paper for a free screening), I had a c-section when I had Sophie, I had my gallbladder taken out when I was 29. I have never broken a bone (knock on wood) in my entire life. Actually, I don’t really believe in superstitions. I had another c-section with Vollen and another with Ronan.
71. My brother Ricky and I fought all the time when we were little. We hated each other, well actually, I hated him, I wrote in my diary on every page ‘I HATE RICKY‘. We finally grew up and matured when we were both in high school together (I was a junior when he was a freshman). We get along great now. Funny how things work out.
72. I hate the smell of ‘outside‘, especially on dogs or little kids or anyone really.
73. I am 6 feet tall. I did not play basketball or volleyball. Ask me how many times I’ve been asked that question in my life.
74. I’ve only been camping a handful of times when I was younger, and I loved those times. I thought it was so fun to camp out in the tents and swimming in the lakes, I actually learned how to water-ski during a camping trip. BUT, now that I am older for some reason I never want to camp ever again. I HATE bugs (see #6) and I have a fear now of going into water that I can’t see the bottom of and that doesn’t have chlorine I just think of all the fish poop and pee and dead bodies, etc…And I would not be able to move after a night of sleeping on the floor. No thank you anymore!
75. My favorite cut of meat when I ate it was Filet Mignon. I never was a big meat person anyway, but when I did have it, I wanted it to be really good. I think I have only ordered steak less than a dozen times in my life from a restaurant, it’s just not the first thing I would choose off a menu if I had a choice.
76. My first tape that I ever owned was Tiffany. My first cd I ever owned was Ace of Base. I got my first cd player when I was 12 years old I was at a swim meet in Minnesota and my parents got me that with my first cd. I felt really cool and LOVE both of them. My friend on the team and I danced around my room and jumped on the beds and then had cake & ice cream.
77. I do not like coffee at all, in no way, shape or form. Vernon has tried so hard to get me to drink and like coffee. I just can‘t stand how bitter and disgusting it is. I hope my kids don’t like it. BUT I LOVE the smell of it (before it's brewed) squeezed through that little sniff hole. I always have to stop in the coffee isle and squeeze and sniff the bags. LOVE it!
78. I like all kinds of different foods. I love Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Mexican, American, pretty much anything.
79. I really never get stressed or worry about things. I am a pretty laid back relaxed type personality.
80. People have always asked me for my advice on their personal problems, I think that is why I wanted to get into psychology. Friends in junior high, high school, college, and even co-workers, so many people feel comfortable telling me really personal things. I like that they feel comfortable coming to me.
81. I got my snowflake tattoo when I was 20, in Lincoln, all my roommates came with me to support me. I had talked about getting that tattoo for about 2 years before I got it. I would draw it on myself all the time to show everyone where I wanted it and what colors I wanted it. I just wanted it to be perfect and to prepare everyone. I cried when he did it. It hurt pretty bad, but I like it and don’t regret it.
82. I have always been afraid of burglars and robbers. I have had nightmares my whole life about them robbing my house. SCARY!
83. I hated going to CCD classes and didn’t really pay attention to anything about it. I don’t really know anything about my religion. Vernon had to teach me a lot after we were married. It was like I was just checked out when I was there.
84. I HATE antiques/antiquing. I think that is the worst decorating style you could have along with country cows, chickens and bunnies and southwestern aztec. YUCK!
85. I am very good about portioning out desserts. If we have cookies or rice krispies or other desserts. I will only have one or two a day. I won’t sit there and eat it all in one day. I like saving it and spreading it out so I have more days to enjoy it. I will sometimes separate Vernon's and mine out into my bag and his bag, so all mine won‘t get eaten so fast.
86. My favorite season is probably Spring. I love when everything is fresh and new and my favorite smell (see #21) is in the spring. I love when it starts to get warm and Sophie was born in the spring and I love spring skiing the best.
87. I’ve always admired people who can remember people’s names, dates, etc… I have never been very good at remembering names. I wish I was better. My friend Lori is AMAZING at this. I am fairly good at remembering people’s birthday’s and anniversaries, but only if I write it down on my calendar.
88. I am an obsessive list maker, to the point where I write down like, get up 7:02, take shower 7:15, etc... Crazy, I tell ya!!! It just makes me happy, even if I don’t stick to it exactly, I still like having a list and trying to be organized and on schedule.
89. I have great friends. I don’t have a lot, but the ones I do have are really special to me.
90. One thing I pride myself on is being punctual. I am always on time with anything, if not early. My mom is not at all punctual. I would get so mad at her when she would not be on time picking me up from practices or school. I spent a lot of my life WAITING for her and watching for her car. I always vowed I would never do that to my kids.
91. I have never, ever tried any drugs or smoked even one puff of a cigarette and I am so proud of that. There are not many people who have never at least tried it. I just always hated it when people would smoke and I could smell it especially in restaurants. I was such a brat and would cough and carry on so people would know I was annoyed with them smoking around me. I didn’t care, I thought of smokers as trash, the lowest, nastiest, piece of crap (and I still do). Sorry smokers.
92. Vernon and I had all of our kid’s names picked out before we even were engaged. And we stuck to all of them!
93. I swam competitively from about 10 years old until I was a senior in high school. I was on a swim league MOST (Metro Omaha Swim Team) and was on a summer swim team for my pool Lee Valley . Swimming was a big part of my life. It was funny I was a completely different person in the pool than in school. At swim practices I was goofy, the class or pool clown, I got in trouble for messing around and talking and not listening. I didn’t take it very seriously. In school I was an angel. I was the PERFECT student, attentive, quiet, always did my homework, etc…I think the pool was my outlet and a chance for me to be a different person.
94. My first concert ever was Willy Nelson at the County Fair, I was maybe 10 or 11 or so and I went alone with both of my parents. My first concert without my parents was Michael Damian (from the soap Young & the Restless) I went with my friend Keri McElligott. I think we were 11 or 12. I felt really cool and grown up. My fisrt real concert was Live with my best friend Lori.
95. I love bowling, playing cards and board games (except Monopoly). I love Pitch we would play it all the time when I worked at Gallup - 4 of us would turn around in our chairs and play in the middle of the cubicles while still having our headphones on and doing surveys, it was a lot of fun. I love Boggle and Cranium (I always am the one who does the drawings!!!)
96. When I was little I had tennis lessons, golf lessons, I was on a bowling league with my brothers and cousins Dave & Joni, and we were also on a golf league. I took gymnastics, and of course swimming lessons. After college I was on a softball league and played sand volleyball with friends.
97. My favorite concert I’ve ever been to was U2 in 2005. My mom & dad got us tickets for our first anniversary. I wanted to go SOOOOOO bad, but never was able to get tickets. I wanted them so bad, that both my mom and Vernon had gotten tickets for our anniversary without knowing each other did. We ended up selling Vernon’s tickets to his brother and using the ones my mom got us. It was so awesome, I would see them again in a heartbeat. Concerts I have been to: Willy Nelson, Michael Damion, Live, Dave Matthews, Bare Naked Ladies, Bloodhound Gang, Pearl Jam, Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stones, Neil Diamond, U2
98. I have always been a morning person. I am always happy in the morning and ready to go. I always felt like it I was a wasting the day away if I wasn‘t up by 8:00. I love days I get up really, really early and get a lot of stuff done before anyone has even gotten up. I love going to the grocery store early too, there is no one there and you can just zoom around and get all your shopping done super fast. I think that is also why I have been working at the job I have for so long I get up at 5:15 and have to be at work by 6:30, BUT I get off by 2:30 and just love having the entire day to do stuff.
99. I have a really hard time finding pants that I like and that are long enough for me. It annoys me that every store doesn’t have pants in Long sizes. Big girls need jeans too!
100. I love going for walks when the weather is nice. It’s one of my favorite things to do in the mornings during the summer. I lost all my baby weight after I had Sophie by doing this. She would sleep on the walk, but the down side, I got a lot of age/sun spots that summer on my face that I STILL have today. Waiting to get enough money to get microdermabrasion and skin peels and laser treatments to get rid of them.
101. My husband is my favorite person. We have so much fun together and laugh all the time we just ‘get‘ each other. I am one of only a few that gets his humor. Before we had a kid we would go grocery shopping together and he actually likes going to the mall with me. He always calls me on his way home from work and we talk for like 20 minutes.
101 More Things About Me:
102. I have a favorite church hymn. Only a Shadow, page 181 in the Glory & Praise book. I had Heidi Joy sing it in my wedding. If you really listen to the words, it fit’s a couple getting married PERFECTLY. It makes me cry now if we sing it in church.
103. My favorite candy bars are Butterfinger and Pay Day (boy that was hard to pick). I pretty much like all candy.
104. My husband and I waited 2 years before having any children (by his choice - I probably would have had kids one year after we were married), and once we decided to try to get pregnant, it took two months.
105. I get really excited when I find a parking space right next to a cart corral. With a baby or little kids, it is easiest to just put her in a cart next to the car and when I am done I can just throw my cart in there and go.
106. I love to cook & bake, but don’t always follow directions. I improvise and make concoctions often. I also blend recipes -this means looking up like 4 recipes for something and then using certain ingredients from each of them.
107. I am very thankful for my husband, Vernon, who is this amazing guy who helps clean the kitchen, empties and reloads the dishwasher, vacuums (even the stairs periodically), picks up all the toys. He also does the laundry without asking, changes the bed sheets and I never have to ask him to change Sophie’s diaper. He cleans floors (on his hands & knees), the bathroom, irons, pulls weeds (which I loath) and takes care of the lawn and all outside chores. I couldn’t ask for a better husband.
108. I hate butterscotch anything.
109. My water broke and I went into labor on my due date with my 1st child. It was a Wednesday night. We had just gone to my doctor for my regular checkup appointment at 3:15 that afternoon. My doctor checked me, said that I was still at only a 1 cm and 30% effaced and the head was down. When we got home from the hospital I randomly decided to take a shower (I never, ever take a shower in the middle of the evening). After I was done, I went downstairs and we started to get dinner ready. Vernon was firing up the grill out on the porch and I was in the kitchen getting a bowl out of the cupboard. I turned around towards the sink and POP my water instantly broke and my pj pants were soaked and there was a puddle on the floor. I started yelling for Vernon. He couldn’t hear me very well and yelled back WHAT???? I said I think my water just broke, he ran inside. I started BAWLING because I knew we were having a baby within 24 hours. Raja came running over too cause I had screamed and she was sniffing at the water on the floor. Vernon had to shoosh her away and she wouldn’t stay away and so he put her in her kennel. Vernon and I looked at each other and said wow, this is it. This is our last night of being only the two of us. I started crying harder. Vernon put his hand on my back and asked me if I was feeling okay. I said between sobs that I was fine, just really wet (like I just instantly peed my pants). I called my doctors office. They said how far is your house from the hospital. I said about 15-18 minutes. They said we will notify the hospital that you are on your way. Then I called my mom on her cell phone and I said my water just broke. I started crying again and she screamed and said WHAT!!! and started crying instantly. They were going to the Faith Hill and Tim McGraw concert and they were on their way to eat dinner with Tom & Paula peel when I had called. She wanted us to call them and keep them updated and she was going to come up to the hospital as soon as the concert was over. We were to call her if anything else happened sooner. Vernon called his parents and told them. He also asked them if they could watch Raja because we wouldn’t be back that whole night. Vernon’s mom called Fritz (he was still at work) and Fritz came immediately over from work to pick up Raja. I think I tried to go walk somewhere to get a towel or something and every step I took more water would just gush out. So, Vernon went up to the bathroom to get some bath towels. I just was still frozen in place. The water was warm when it first came out, but by now it was chilly on my pants when it hit my legs. After Vernon brought the towel I took off my soaking pants and tried to get dry. But it was hopeless cause every move I made more water would come out. I tried to change into new underwear and pants, but I couldn’t stay dry. I ended up putting a huge bath towel like a big diaper in my underwear to just catch all the water, then I put my blue lounge pants on. I was then able to move around without gushing water everywhere. I started gathering all the things I wanted to take to the hospital. Vernon and I took our time getting ready. We weren’t in a big hurry to get to the hospital because I wasn’t in pain or having any contractions. Vernon took a shower and ironed a t-shirt and cargo pants. I e-mailed everyone what had just happened. I had just sent everyone an e-mail a couple hours earlier telling them how my appointment that day went. We had finally packed up ALL our stuff (suitcases, pillows, boppy, computer, cords, cameras, etc…(I had a list) and got everything into the car. Since we were just about to start dinner when my water broke we hadn’t eaten yet. I knew I needed to eat something to keep up my strength for the night ahead. Vernon and I were trying to decided what we wanted to eat that was fast. We decided to eat a bowl of cereal. I had to really shove it down, cause I didn’t even want to eat even though I was hungry. After we ate and Fritz picked up Raja we were ready to go. We left for the hospital. Everything went smoothly. When we got to the hospital we had a lot to carry in. I was fine (no contractions or pain) and wanted to carry a bunch of stuff so Vernon wouldn’t have to make so many trips to the car. He WOULD NOT let me carry anything except my purse and my pillows. He was even mad I was carrying that. He kept saying I can come back out. I kept saying I am fine, just let me carry some stuff. He finally had to say, ‘Casie I do not want people thinking why is that husband having his wife who is in labor carry all that stuff‘, so that is when I gave in. We were walking in and I stopped and said wait we have to take a pictures of what I look like before I have the baby. So, we took pictures in the parking lot with the hospital in the background. Vernon was annoyed, but I was so glad I had those pictures of us on our last day as a couple. We went into the hospital and I didn’t want people to see me with my huge towel as a diaper. So, I put my pillows in front of me and had Vernon walk right behind me. It was right about 8:00pm when we arrived. We went up to the second floor and were let into the maternity ward. They said Vernon and Casie Schlueter we have your room ready to go right over here. I was so impressed that they knew our name before we even told them and were all ready for us. At the desk one of the nurses was a girl I had gone to high school with, Tenisha Avery. She said she would be in, in a little bit to say hi. Our nurse was Connie. She told me what would be happening and gave me a gown to put on. On the bed was a plastic sheet if I leaked more. She hooked all the monitors around me. She had to go through so many questions about our history and everything to get us in the system and all the information. She had to test my wet towel fluid to make sure I was really in labor. Of course I was. Then she had to start me on an iv. She could not get it in. It was pissing me off. That seriously was the worst part. She said I am going to try one more time and then I will have someone else come try it. Finally, she got it in. I hate iv‘s. It was about 9:00pm and the contraction started coming. They were not too bad at first. Just felt like painful cramps. They didn’t last very long either. They started getting progressively stronger and more painful. I was checked and 3.5 cm. and they decided to call the anesthesiologist to start the epidural. She got there really fast. It didn’t hurt too bad when she put it in, and boy was that awesome. No more pain of any kind. All was wonderful and I was so relaxed. They were going to check me again after I had the epidural in. So, she goes to check me and then she said I’ll be right back. Vernon and I and my mom looked at each other and said that doesn’t sound good. She brought another nurse in (who was the girl I knew from high school to check me also -She asked me if that was okay or if I felt too weird for her to check me. I said I could care less. I have no problem at all, I don’t think it is weird) so, she checked me and said NOPE that’s definitely not the head. WHAT?!?!?! I was a little confused by what they were saying because in my head the baby had been head down for weeks now according to my doctor at my appointments. They went to go get a portable ultrasound machine and used the wand to look to make sure they were right. They were, the baby was definitely breech. That meant they had to do an emergency c-section. They asked me if that was okay. I didn’t care. I just wanted whatever was best for the baby and for it not to hurt. So, they immediately started prepping for the c-section. All the nurses got fully dressed in sanitary gowns, hats, & masks. Everything moved VERY fast. I was wheeled into the surgery room at 4:00am. They moved me to another table (actually I scooted myself over to it) and they strapped me down like Jesus to the cross, my arms were out to the side strapped. At this point I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO tired. I could barely keep my eyes open. They just all did their thing and Vernon was at my head kind of telling me what was going on. All of a sudden I felt this tugging and then I heard her cry. I started crying and they took her over to the warmer and started cleaning her up. They weighed her and did all their tests, which took a long time it felt. Then wrapped her up and handed her to daddy since I was still strapped in and they were putting me back together and stitching me up. We took some picts. And eventually they wheeled me into my room. It was around 5:30 or so in the morning and I was so freaking tired and just wanted to feed the baby. I could tell she wanted to eat so bad she was rooting like crazy. I couldn’t feel my arms because the epidural was turned way up during surgery and hadn’t worn off yet. I was getting so irritable and just wanted someone to put that baby up to my boob and get her on. The nurse finally did that and my arms were starting to get tingly and I was getting a little feeling back, but not near enough to hold her yet. Sophie did so great latching right on and ate for 45 minutes on one side and then ate for another hour from the other side. She just knew right what to do. It was easy and did hurt at all just like I had pictured in my head. I had to sleep so, the baby and I slept and Vernon ran home to shower and change and came right back up. The doctors came in early that morning to see how I was and see how the baby was. I just remember trying to smile and be chipper, but was so exhausted. More visitors came up.
110. I am not competitive at all. I think that is because I have never excelled at anything that was even comparable to anyone. There was one time in my life where I was. I was a swim coach for the neighborhood pool I life guarded at. My co-coach, BJ and I were determined to be the best. We recruited the most kids possible and we did win several meets just because we had more kids, not because our kids were fast.
111. My most embarrassing moment was when I was going through pre-service at Boys Town. It was the 3rd day, Wednesday, July 13th 2000 and they took us for a tour of the campus in a bus on a 104 degree day with no air conditioning. I sat next to this girl I had been talking to since the first day (Leslie). I had this khaki cotton skirt on and when we got up to get off the bus and go back into the building, I felt my skirt was WET with sweat on the back of my legs. I instantly was terrified that people would think I peed my pants. I asked Leslie to look and see if it was wet, it was and I asked her if she would walk behind me until we got back to our seats so no one would see. She was more than happy to. Leslie and I became instant friends, she was in my wedding and to this day we are really good friends.
112. I vacuum my house like 3 times a week (one word: Raja). I clean the kitchen daily. I clean the bathroom before company comes. I never, ever dust, EVER. The only time my house was dusted was when my mom came over before Sophie’s 1st birthday and helped me get ready, she just started dusting, fine by me!
113. My favorite holiday is Christmas, I love all the excitement leading up to it and how good of a mood everyone is in. I love the Christmas lights and of course the snow.
114. My husband doesn’t like me to do his laundry because in the past I accidentally have dried some of his shirts that weren’t supposed to be dried and wash others that were supposed to be dry clean only, so we each do our own laundry now and then we both do house laundry and the babies.
115. I started to get carpel tunnel in 2006 when my right arm would go numb from finger tips to shoulder. I had to get a brace to wear on my wrist all day and night except when I showered. It just kind of went away after about 2 months. My carpel tunnel came back towards the end of my pregnancy, this time both arms were going numb, I got another brace for the other wrist and wore them 24 hours a day. I hated it. I looked like a freaking pregnant boxer. I was really worried that I wouldn’t be able to hold the baby or my wrists would not be strong enough, but as soon as I had the baby it went away, it was all the extra fluid and pressure in there.
116.. There are some words that I don’t like hearing or saying. The main one is panties, others are pimple and lard. There are more, but I can’t think of them off hand, but I will add them when I do.
117. I hate it when people touch my face. I feel like their hands are dirty and grease and I don't want that on my face. I always have, even when I was a little girl.
118. I can be in and out of the shower in 7 minutes. My roommates timed it our senior year in college. That is shampooing, shaving, conditioning and body washing.
119. One of my favorite things is taking a shower with the lights off. I think it is just scrumptious. It is relaxing and calming and I can even still shave with the lights off.
120. I never wore glasses or even had my eyes formally checked (except by the nurses in school) until I met Vernon. Even though I don’t have a very big prescription, I was shocked at how clearly I could be seeing with the glasses, everything was so sharp and crystal clear. I loved it.
121. Often I seem to get on food streaks. For example, after Easter in the past I had an egg salad sandwich every single day for lunch for about 2-3 months. After Sophie was born I had a BLT sandwich everyday for 2-3 months. When I was pregnant with Sophie I had a Pink Lady apple with peanut butter every day for breakfast. During one winter, I had oatmeal every morning. I was also on a Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal streak for a long time. When I like something, I really like it and it is all I want for a long time. It seems to only really be for Breakfast and Lunches. Weird.
122. One of my little quirks is that I have to have tight, straightened bed sheets to sleep good. I also tuck my sheet in at the end of the bed, I don’t like it when it comes untucked.
123. After I had Sophie, I walked daily once I got the go ahead and lost all my baby weight (30 lbs.) plus some in less than 2 months. The breastfeeding helped tremendously to lose the weight. It just melted right off, the easiest weight I ever lost.
124. My brothers and I used to take our sleeping bags and stuff them with pillows then get in them and slide down the staircase. They were slick nylon so they went down the carpeted stairs really fast.
125. I have what I call a sensitive sympathetic reflex where, if I see someone hurt or break something, I feel the pain exactly where they are hurting. I hate it when people crack their knuckles, my knuckles start to hurt.
126. I had my mom French braid my hair for school every single day I think in like 7th grade. She would sit on the top of the staircase and I would sit on the 2nd step. On occasion we would also iron my hair straight with the iron that we used for clothes on the ironing board. Back then they didn’t make hair straighteners all they had were crimpers.
127. When I was pregnant I didn’t really crave anything, but I ate a lot of broccoli, it just tasted really good. I also had sushi (which is a no, no).
128. I love cool pens and markers, they make me happy. VERY FINE points (0.01) are my favorite.
129. I hate green and dark purple olives. I just don’t care for their flavor. I love normal, black ones though. *Update ~ I now LOVE salty dark purple olives (Kalamata).
130. I have only stolen one thing in my life. It was a Mini Mouse ring when I was about 6 or 7 years old. It was at K-Mart (there on 108th & Maple). It was my mom and brothers and I and my grandma & grandpa Keith that went. When we got home I showed my grandma the ring and she said where did you get that, I said the store. She said did you pay for it and I didn’t say anything. My mom marched me right back up to K-mart and she made me give the ring back to the manager and tell him that I took it. I never stole again.
131. Our family dog growing up was a Collie named Ginger. All the neighbors loved walking their dogs by our house to see her, they would even bring her treats. My brother Ricky loved that dog, she was pretty much his dog. When we eventually had to put her to sleep, he took it really hard.
132. I always wanted to be a weather forecaster on television. I loved making maps in school and loved all kinds of weather, clouds, and especially stormy weather.
133. Vernon and I had booked the reception hall before we were even engaged. We knew when we wanted to get married and knew that they booked up so far in advance, we told my parents after we announced we were engaged.
134. I am a very emotional person. I cry pretty easily, although the older I get the stronger I feel. I don’t seem to cry AS easily as I used to, but I am a wreck during movies and TV commercials where someone does something extraordinarily nice for someone else (Extreme Home Makeover just about kills me) or anything that involves babies or kids now that I have one.
135. I get misty-eyed every time I hear a good rendition of pretty much any patriotic song. This includes the National Anthem, I'm Proud to be an American, or God Bless American, especially when paired with awesome fireworks.
136. I have to use a Q-tip after I get out of the shower. I know they are not good to use, but I just need to wipe out the water in there, otherwise it drives me nuts.
137. I see expiration dates as suggestions. If it smells fine and there is no visible mold it’s getting used. Vernon has tried to get me to change this…I’m still working on it.
138. I really don’t like the mall. I see it as pointless to just go wonder around aimlessly window shopping. I like going if I have a purpose and know exactly what I am going for and then I am in and out. Sometimes I will make it a game to see how fast I can actually get in and out.
139. My dad chose my name. I wish I had a different middle name. I love Casandra and wished people would have called me that, but no one ever did unless they were joking around. My parents told me they almost named me Christina. I am so glad they decided against that.
140. I love snow. I love right after it snows and it is so calm and peaceful and quiet out and the snow looks like glitter falling from the sky. I feel like it is a little gift from God. I love when the trees have snow on their branches and the world turns to a white dream land, hence my snowflake tattoo.
141. I wanted to be a school psychologist. I wanted to be in the school system and be on the same schedules as my kids, but not be a teacher. I applied to 4 grad schools and was not accepted to any of their programs and had to go to plan B, Boys Town.
142. In my opinion the only reason to date is to find the person you are going to marry. Otherwise, why waste your time. If you know they aren’t the one, dump and move on.
143. My alcoholic drinks of choice are Coconut Rum and Coke or Manderine Vodka and Sprite or any sweet fru-fru Daiquiris, but I really don’t drink anymore. I don’t see the point in wasting the calories.
144. I would almost always go to a Japanese or Indian restaurant over anything else.
145. I am annoyingly organized when it comes to preparing for parties, holidays, showers, or my wedding. I have so many typed lists and planned menus and grocery lists and supplies and which days to start doing what. I had so many lists for my wedding. I would always re-write the list when things would get crossed off, but it paid off on my wedding day, I didn’t have a care in the world, I knew everything was thought of and where it needed to be.
146. When on vacation in another city, state or country, I love trying to go to restaurants that are unique to that area that can not be found anywhere else. I also try to make sure to take a picture of the food right when it comes out, to remember back to what it tasted like and how pretty it was presented.
147. I love trying to get things for free or discounted. I always ask if there is a discount or coupon, and I love to get free samples. I rarely pay full price for anything.
148. I admit I have a led foot. I speed all the time and I thought it might get better after I had a baby, unfortunately nope. In my life I probably have gotten maybe 6 speeding tickets (I have taken the STOP class 3 times to get it off my record). My first one I got on the way up to Minnesota, my dad was in the passenger seat and my brothers were in the back. I was bawling. My dad made me keep driving and I didn’t want to. Not more than 30 minutes later, I was pulled over again by an officer for going too slow, not a good day.
149. I hate it when people use poor grammar or pronunciation, or use a word incorrectly. The worst is for example: Me and Suzie when out to a movie. Ugh, SUZIE and I!!!! I also hate when people write ‘to’ when they are supposed to write ‘too‘, BIG pet-peeve of mine. At one time I thought about being an English teacher. I love diagramming!
150. I LOVE getting massages and I don‘t even care if they are bad (although I don‘t think I have ever had a bad one), if someone is touching me that is good enough. I usually go to the Omaha School of Massage and get an hour for $30 and now they don‘t accept tips! It is awesome and I only live 2 minutes away from it. I would go once a week if I could afford it.
151. I was never embarrassed of my parents. I always thought they were cool and was proud when they came up to school or when I had friends over.
152. I don’t know why, but I have always loved tugging on peoples elbow skin. I loved doing it to my grandma Keith she had a lot of extra skin there. I did it to Joy, Lori, my mom, and Vernon. I also loved to tug on my brother Robby’s ear lobes before he pierced them. They were so big and soft.
153. I am a HORRIBLE speller. I have always been. Thanks goodness for spell check.
154. I have only had to have stitches one time in my life. I about 16 and I was washing a glass in the sink, it broke and I didn’t know it and I sliced my right hand on the fat pad below my pinky. I started screaming and my dad heard me, he was downstairs and came running up and said, ‘What the hell is going on?’ I was crying and said, ‘I just cut my hand.’ My mom was just coming home and she looked at it and thought that I better go in for stitches.
155. I have age spots and want to get chemical peels done to get rid of them. At the end of my pregnancy I got acne so very bad. I have never really had acne even when I was a teenager. I only really get a pimple or two when I get my period. Well, after I had Sophie it flared up really, really bad (my hormones must have been really out of whack). Anyway, I was going on walks every day and got a lot of sun, even though I wore sunscreen, the acne must have been very light sensitive and left awful dark, sun spot marks on my face. I don’t like them.
156. I absolutely love FOG. It’s so mysterious and beautiful and I love how it puts a filter on the world you see. My favorite is in the spring, in low lying areas, in the morning with the sun shining through the fog. I think it is beautiful. I wrote a poem about it because it touched me so much. I had a copy of that poem on the front of my wedding planning binder.
157. During my sophomore year in college I lived with Lori, Joy and Tina. Thursday nights were roomy nights. We would go to U-stop and get drinks and snacks (and that is how I actually first learned to drive a stick shift, Joy would let me drive her car across the parking lot over to the gas station - she taught me how) and we would go back to the apartment and watch Dawson’s Creek and give each other back rubs, and paint toes. We would make caramel corn all the time. It was a really fun time in my life. I remember around Christmas our apartment complex had a balcony decorating contest for money and I wanted to win. I put so many Christmas light out on our deck that it lit the entire living room up with all the lights off, it annoyed my roommates. I didn’t win, I was pissed.
158. I was a life guard at Montclair Community Center I had so much fun at that job. On breaks or after the pool closed we would have so much fun goofing around and being silly. We had this phone in the office that had two lines on it and we would randomly pick two numbers out of the phonebook and call one on the first line and hurry and call the second number on the second line and then have them both on speaker phone and when one person would answer and say hello the other person would answer and say hello and they would go back and forth saying you called me, no you called me. It was so hilarious. We would just be rolling on the floor laughing. It was so much fun. That was a fun job because we has a fun group of people to work with.
159. One of my favorite things about my husband is his calm, laid-back demeanor especially in arguments. It totally calms me down and makes me re-evaluate the situation.
160. I was a bossy child. I think it came from being the oldest and a Leo. I ALWAYS bossed my brothers around. They hated it.
161. For one of my parent’s anniversaries when I was about 12 or 13, I called into their oldies radio station and requested their wedding song and said Happy Anniversary to them and was just hoping that they were listening to it on their way home from going out to eat. I recorded it on a tape for them in case they didn’t hear it.
162. It drives me crazy how my husband says his O’s. They are like Uuuho and long drawn out.
163. When the movie Titanic came out I went to see it with my mom and my grandma Keith. I thought the movie was SO sad I literally cried for 30 minutes AFTER the movie was over. I had such a bad headache from crying so hard and so long.
164. I love putting a little sugar on fresh, home grown tomatoes (definitely has to be home grown or from a farmer). I learned it from my Grandpa Keith he always said it was a German thing.
165. In college, we heard of this Mexican restaurant, Mazitlan, that would serve to minors. A bunch of us would go there almost every Thursday and order margaritas, they had all kinds of fun flavors. We thought we were so cool and sneaky, we spent a lot of money at that place!!!
166. I went through a phase when I was younger where I only wanted the dark green leaves in my lettuce salads. Now days, I don’t like the hard white chunky pieces (middle stems) or the really dark pieces, I like the medium to light green pieces the best. I know, OCD again.
167. I had a retainer when I was younger probably for 2-3 years between 3rd and 5th grade, but since I had that, I never ended up having to have braces. Boy did I hate having to tighten that retainer, it hurt so bad, I would cry every time I had to tighten it. I had to have this crazy-looking pronged piece inside my bottom teeth to train my tongue to stay back in my mouth, because I sucked my thumb and it was pushing my teeth forward. Everyone that saw it was really freaked out by it. I got a lot of, ‘Eeeewww what is that in your mouth?’ comments. I was a little embarrassed by it and was so glad when I got it out. I have had so many cavities in my life that almost my entire mouth is full of fillings (no wonder the metal detector goes off all the time at the airport).
168. I make killer pancakes. It’s from working so many weekends at Boys Town, I am always the cook (by choice). I once calculated how many times I have made pancakes based on how many weekends I have worked in 8 years…it’s a lot!
169.I’m trying to go green. This year I started taking my old big cloth beach totes to the store to cut down on how many plastic bags I use. I am trying to use less harmful chemicals. I love Green Works by Clorox. I am addicted. I spray the counter just so I can smell it. We buy the new energy saving bulbs and I always have been a big light shutter offer.
170. I am a medicine taker. If I have a headache pass the Advil (unless I am pregnant, then pass the Tylenol). I don’t like to be in pain and guess I am sort of a wuss and complainer when it comes to that, but ironically I am really tough when it comes to needles or anything in the doctors office.
171. I hate when people tell the exact same stories over and over again. And then they don’t remember they have told you before. My mom is notorious for this. It drives me nuts. Ugh
172. I hate when people call me the wrong name. I have gotten “CASSIE” (said like sassy) my entire life. I find it so impersonal when you know someone and they know you (sometimes really well) and then they call you the wrong name, their status just plummets, like you don’t even know my name. I also hate it when my name is spelled wrong, especially from family members. WHAT THE????
173. I think soup is the perfect meal. It’s hearty, usually has vegetables, healthy, and fills you up. In college I fixed a lot of soup, it was quick and easy to make for one person. Vernon doesn’t always care for it because it’s warm and since he is always hot he doesn’t want to raise his internal temperature any higher. I would have it every week if I could (it makes great leftovers also).
174. I rarely throw out makeup. I swear I have makeup (eye shadow, eye liners and maybe lipstick) from high school, possibly junior high. I just always think maybe I will use it some day. I hate wasting it. Although, I will throw mascara away or anything that is empty.
175. I think it is funny that I seem to be attracted to very similar shades of lipstick colors and nail polish colors. There have been times when I have bought a color thinking hey I really like this color and then go home only to find I already have that exact color. Humm I must really like it then!
176. I have never been afraid to get my hair cut or try a new style. It’s hair it will grow back.
177. I always buy waterproof mascara. You never know when the waterworks will start flowing.
178. I was born in Omaha, raised in Omaha, went to school in Omaha & Lincoln, and currently reside in Omaha and will always live in Omaha. Do we see a pattern?
179. I am an INFJ.
180. I don’t get Cedar chests or closets. I don’t want my clothes to smell like wood, I want them to smell like detergent.
181. My legs go numb when I drink alcohol. Now that I don’t drink anymore, my legs get numb after only one or two sips.
182. I have a supreme sweet tooth. I'd much rather eat ice cream than chips.
183. My own recorded voice sounds really weird and awful to me.
184. I am politically moderate, I usually choose a politician based on if they don’t have any negative ads on the other person. I want someone who has good character and focuses on themselves and not putting the other person down.
185. I don’t go to the bathroom until I am READY to go. I always thought sitting on the pot was a waste of time. Oh, I and I don’t have an issue with going in public, like a lot of people do. I know, WAY too much information!!!
186. I love thunderstorms and snowstorms, and I really love when it Thundersnows!!!!
187. I love fresh sweet corn on the cob & a really good watermelon. But I don’t like Cantaloupe or Honeydew.
188. I like watching cartoons, especially ones with a good moral lesson in them.
189. I am an excellent copier. I don’t necessarily feel like I am creative on my own, I just copy other people’s work or idea and maybe change it just a little.
190. I pretty much stopped drinking pop when I was about 26. I just didn’t want it anymore, I thought water and tea were much healthier options. I will occasionally get pop when I go to Jimmy Johns, but that is about it.
191. I LOVE almond milk and it has to be BLUE DIAMOND Vanilla Almond milk, Don't even try to get original or light, no, full Vanilla! Best thing EVER!!!!
192. I have only gotten in one ‘fight’ (outside of my brothers) in my entire life. It was in 8th grade, in math class (I had a really cute teacher too). There was this girl who sat in front of me and I started pulling her hair just for fun. She kept getting really mad at me and I thought it was funny, so I kept doing it. She got so mad she stood up in the middle of class and got in my face and screamed at me to stop, I denied I was doing anything, of course. We both got kicked out of class for the rest of that day. That was the extent of the ‘fight’.
193. I am sort of a risk taker as far as dare-devilish stuff. I used to love roller coasters (the older I get I can’t ride them anymore I get nauseous, but I would love to still be able to ride them), I like going fast and high things like that.
194. I don’t mind pulp in my orange juice.
195. I don’t care for taking baths. I feel it’s not that relaxing and kind of uncomfortable and it’s boring and gets cold too quickly. I know, I’m weird. I much rather would take a warm, steamy shower.
196. I don't like breaking rules. This does not apply to driving. I drive very fast. I'm also a big fan of steering with my knees.
197. I had my first car accident at 16 in the winter (but it wasn‘t snowy or icy). A girl turned in front of me in an intersection at 132nd & Center (they say accidents happen within a mile of your home -that was exactly a mile from my home) I was just returning from dropping off my cousin Joni after coming back from Crescent. When it was happening I just could not believe she was going, it was like slow motion, I was really mad at her for pulling out to turn in front of me and I slammed on the breaks. I ended up hitting the right side of the back of her car the front right side of my car. My air bag went off it was smokey and stinky and we both spun around right in the middle and blocked traffic. I immediately got out of my car and went over to see if she was okay. She didn’t get out, but she was fine. There were a lot of people who got out to see if we were okay. A lady that saw what happened wanted to call my mom, she asked me for my number and ran over to the Post n’ Nickel to call (this was before cell phone times). The ambulance came and the police came and my mom came and followed the ambulance to the hospital. The other lady and I both rode in separate ambulances. I was checked out at the hospital and everything was fine. My wrist was a little sore from being flung by the airbag, but that was about it. I remember my dad and brothers came to the hospital straight from Crescent and my dad just kept asking me what happened and I kept telling him and I just felt that he never believed me that it was her fault for turning in front of me. My second car accident was again when I was 16 in the Spring this time. The same exact scenario but this time it was an old lady and she turn in front of me in the intersection of 132nd & Pacific (again right by my house). I was so mad at her too for going and making me wreck my car. An officer came and we sat in the back of his cruiser. She got a ticket because it was her damn fault. Needless to say I HATE intersections and am very cautious of people waiting to turn in front of me. I cover the break and slow way down if I see someone waiting to turn. I get very anxious when I come to intersections.
198. I like when people think I'm smart, I can fake it pretty good sometimes.
199. I'd much rather e-mail, than talk on the phone. I like texting too.
200. When I was younger I loved running down the street with bare feet. I felt I could go so much faster with no shoes on.
201. I threw my parents a surprise party for their 25th wedding anniversary. I called up one of their friends, Gwen & Jim Johnson and asked them if they would call my parents up and ask them to go out to dinner and they were totally excited to help me. I hid all the decorations and food and cake in my room in my closet and then as soon as they left I had all my relatives (aunts, grandma, and my brothers) help decorate and set up for the party, because we only had a short time until people were going to be showing up. My brothers were in charge of directing traffic and having everyone park far away. There were about 25 couples that came. I had everyone go out to the back porch and then I had planned to have Jim & Gwen ask to see the backyard and bring them around back. It totally worked. I had my brother Robby videotaping their reaction. It was awesome. They had NO idea. They didn’t even realize what was happening even when they saw everyone there. It was so funny. I was bawling, because I was so proud everything I had planned worked out. I even had their actual extra napkins from their wedding with the cake. It was a pretty fun night.
202. I love my feet and other people's feet. I at one time wanted to be a nail technician. I would do all my roommates toes and nails and liked it. Now, it seems like a lot of work for no reward.
And yet another 101 things about me...okay, I am seriously done.
203. I had a teal blanket when I was a baby. I remember I would rub the silky material around the edges of the blanket while sucking my thumb. I loved the smell of it and how soft it was on my face. My mom wanted me to give the blanket up when I was older and I didn’t want to. One traumatic day I remember she had enough, got mad and threw it outside and I was so upset and cried. I thought a dog had taken it and left. It wasn’t until years later that we came across it and I couldn’t believe that she had it. I was so confused because I never saw her go back outside and get it.
204. I love reading once I am into a book. It’s getting started that is hard for me.
205. I used to pretend to be blind when I was little and we were out in public, my mom would get mad at me and tell me to knock it off. I would also pretend to have a locked knee and would limp around. I liked doing odd things like that.
206. I have gotten a lot of compliments on my eyebrows from different people. Funny thing is, I don’t do anything except tweeze the occasional stray. They are just low maintenance I guess.
207. I'm rarely moody. Circumstances can make me grumpy or sad, but I have a generally happy disposition.
208. Vernon’s been a good influence on me with being patient, courteous and for letting others go ahead of me and not trying to race to be the first or get though a crowd or around people. He is the most patient person I know toward strangers, sometimes it irritates me because slow people make me mad and I just want to get the heck out of there or around them.
209. I always try to notice when people do something and tell them thank you and show my appreciation. I think this skill has really developed since I have been married to Vernon and since I have worked at Boys Town. It’s a great skill for everyone to have.
210. I hate washing my jeans. I go as long as possible, until they start smelling.
211. I prefer Miracle Whip over Mayonnaise on sandwiches. I don’t mind so much when it is in a salad (like macaroni salad). *UPDATE now that we are Vegan we use Veganise. It's good. Very, very similar and I can't tell a difference.
212. I hate when people hold in their sneeze. LET IT OUT PEOPLE!!!
213. When I was little my brothers and I came up with this thing we would do in the winter. If we were watching cartoons, a movie or show and they would go to commercial we would run over to the air vents on the floor and get a blanket or old comforter and curl up over the air vent with the warm air billowing out on our face and the blanket filled with the warm air. We each had our own vents - actually we all had two!! We called it a station break. Sometimes when it was really cold, we would run over there even if the show was on, if we heard the heater kick on. When it would shut off we would still lay there until all the warm air left and deflated the blanket. Then we would talk back and forth through the vents. We actually tried to pass things over through the vents, it didn’t really work. But to this day every time the heater turns on I yell station break (I had to educate Vernon on what this meant) and go sit over our vent in the dining room - it’s the only one that is in a really good spot (when we bought our house I looked for a good station break vent).
214. I am definitely a home-body. I love being at home. Spending a day at home with he family (in a clean and grocery-stocked house) sounds just delicious.
215. When I was younger my dad always told me not to mumble. He always said, ‘You need to E N U N C I A T E your words’, and he would emphasize and say the word enunciate louder. It annoyed me.
216. I have never been T.P.ing, but I have always wanted to. Some girlfriends and I tried to go once when we had a sleepover, we were almost out the door, but my mom caught us and made us go back upstairs to bed.
217. I do not like driving with the windows down. I can’t hear the radio or other people talking and I like my air conditioning (and that whole smelling like outdoors thing).
218. (Before Vegan ~ BV) I like my meat cut up small in my meals. Vernon gets annoyed. I am really particular when it comes to my ground beef. I like it really fine, which means you really need to break it up good from the start and not let it get clumpy as it browns up.
219. I'm not easily stressed, except when we're expecting company. Then suddenly I turn into this psyco tazmanian devil trying to tie up all the loose ends around the house and with the food.
220. My right eye slightly closes when I smile, especially for photos. I'd hate this and try to keep both eyes wide open when a photo is taken of me.
221. I really like when they have a computer animated simulations that help explain what a show is talking about. For example: They show the point of impact of a plane crashing and then how far it slides before it stops all in a computer animated form. Sometimes when they have a person in the little video they are really funny looking, do funny things and have funny movements. It cracks me up.
222. I am a people pleaser and very non-confrontational and I rarely tell the waiter if something in my meal is wrong.
223. In high school I was a ‘normal’ (yes, I made that term up). I wasn’t in the popular crowd, I wasn’t a jock, I wasn’t a nerd, I wasn’t a freak who wore black trench coats, I wasn’t a druggy, I was just a normal, which is good I guess.
224. I hate when guys have long hair. I don’t think it looks good on ANY guy. My boys will never have long hair.
225. Food texture doesn’t bother me. I don’t mind squishy, chunky, slippery, curdled, rubbery, crunchy, slimy, etc..
226. I have to have gum in my mouth if I leave the house. It is my toothbrush, breath mint and mouthwash.
227. I hate when people have LISPS. Especially when they are singers, like on American Idol. It drives me nuts.
228. I love surprises, even little ones, but I am not surprised easily. It takes a lot to keep anything from me (see #7).
229. I use ear plugs when I sleep and I have since I was a freshman in college. I life guarded really early in the morning and would have to get up at 5:00am and a lot of times there were people in our room or Lori was up studying and so I wore ear plugs so I could get to sleep. Well, I just kept wearing them and my dad always yells at me saying, “What if there is a fire how are you going to know?“ Uh, duh, I would smell it. Anyway, I really needed them after we were married. Vernon is a VERY LOUD snorer. It’s kind of funny even with the loud air purifier, the oscillating fan on, and Vernon snoring I can still hear Sophie’s first whimpers before she starts crying in her room even with my ear plugs in AND I can hear my alarm radio come on at the quietest setting and Vernon’s alarm on the very first quiet beep. So there!
230. I drink a lot of water and tea. Vernon says I drink more water than anyone he has ever known. I guess I didn’t realize it was THAT much!
231. I love lighting candles in the house. I think it makes it warm and inviting and homey.
232. Everything has a home and needs to be put back there. When we get something new, we designate a home for it and make sure both of us know where that is. It helps cut down on clutter and being unorganized.
233. I get so frustrated with lag time on cameras from the time you push the button to the time the camera takes the pictures. I want immediacy, I HATE when I miss a shot due to the camera not being fast enough.
234. Nothing irks me more than getting a greeting card or a Christmas card with just the person’s signature in it. HOW FREAKING IMPERSONAL ARE YOU??? Thanks for signing your name and throwing a stamp on it, my freaking 1 year old daughter could do that. You count that as a well wish????? Don’t waste your time giving that S&!* to me, I will throw it in the damn trash. Would it kill you to write a little note or say a nice memory or add a sentence, something besides your damn signature? And don’t even try to underline a couple words and add my name before that generic, piece of crap saying and then sign your name. Oh, you put in a whole 2 more seconds worth of effort, that must be enough to say you care. Shoot, I’ll even take a picture, that is at least putting some kind of thought into it. As you can see, I am a little passionate about greeting cards. That’s all!
235. I love shellac for nails.
236. My nose gets beet red when I cry and I HATE it. It makes me mad when people can cry and not even look like they have been crying.
237. I was in choir in junior high and high school. In junior high I was in the swing choir. I really liked singing in a choir, you are not in the spot light and still get to perform. I really liked how my choir teacher taught in high school. Mr. Lempke was really weird but great at what he did.
238. I’m a hair tucker. I always need to have at least one side tucked behind my ears.
239. I love watching teen movies, it’s like a secret pleasure of mine. Maybe that is why I only feel like I am in my early 20’s!!!! I like: Bring It On, Never Been Kissed, 10 Things I Hate About You, John Tucker Must Die, Legally Blonde, She's All That, Never Been Kissed, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Juno, The Devil Wears Prada, Can't Hardly Wait, Save the Last Dance, & Clueless.
240. I usually get sick in the car if I am in the backseat and especially if I am reading or not looking out of the front window.
241. My analytical score was the highest on my SAT’s. We won’t go there with the verbal and math.
242. When I need to cough, I cough really hard one time, almost every time people think it is a sneeze and say bless you.
243. I am really stingy. It is one of the biggest things I am working on.
244. My great grandpa Greenblatt taught us to clean our plates and to not be wasteful. I still have the compulsion to clean my plate to this day. We can always tell which is my plate and which is Vernon’s. I won’t even leave even one a piece of rice behind (my dad does the same thing).
245. I think homemade Chex Mix is way better than the kind you can buy at the store. I do like the sweet kind more.
246. In the winter (well, I guess even in the fall and spring) I have a space heater right by my chair blowing on my face and I’m wrapped up in a blanket. In the car I love the heat blowing right on my face too. Now my kids sit RIGHT in front of it and block it from me. HEY????
247. I love to buy stamps from the post office. I look online at the release schedule so I’ll know what’s coming up next. I don’t think I necessarily need to use flags when there are so many other options. And I get mad when they only have ugly one out.
248. I’ve been told I smile a lot.
249. I used to spell a lot, alot and does, dose.
250. One of my biggest pet peeves are when people are ‘fake’.
251. I do not care for spicy food.
252. I save just about every single correspondence I receive - invitations, thank yous, Christmas cards, Birthday cards, and yes, if you are a school-aged friend of mine that means I most likely have notes you passed to me in class.
253. When studying/concentrating, I need complete silence.
254. My favorite perfume so far is Cashmere Mist by Donna Karen. I am out of it and right now we are not spending any money, so I can’t get more. It’s the only time I have ever used up a bottle of perfume. Guess what I am going to buy when we are debt free!!!!
255. I consistently won Halloween costume contests when I was in grade school. I had the best mom ever who made every costume by hand and was VERY creative. She put a lot of work into them and it showed. I was always so proud to get dressed up in them.
256. I am very finicky with my pillowcases. I have to have a new one every other night. The in-between night I flip the pillow to the clean side. This goes back to my anxiety of people touching my face. I guess I just like my face to be on a clean surface.
257. I am uber impressed with anyone who can really dance. I think my cousin‘s cousins (Chucky & Ben) on their other side are fabulous dancers. Whenever I see them, I make them dance for me. And I make it my mission to watch anything dance-related that I can. Dirty Dancing. So You Think You Can Dance. Bring It On. Dancing With The Stars. Regardless of how cheesy it may be, if it has dancing in it, I sit glued to the television the whole time.
258. I loooooooove taking pictures. If you choose to be a faithful follower of my blog, you will get to see my obsession in full-fledged neurotic form. My poor child has retina burn from all of the exposure to camera flashes.
259. I have always had déjà vu, where I will dream something or being in a situation and it will happen in real life and I will be like I have seen this before. That to me is proof that there is more out there than we even know.
260. For some unknown reason I have always viewed certain numbers in the masculine/feminine sense. For instance, in my mind 2 and 4 are females. The numbers 1,3 and 5 are male. I think it’s a genius thing, you probably wouldn’t understand.
261. I don’t really tan. I burn
262. I loved being pregnant. There was absolutely nothing that I didn’t like about it (is that a double negative?). My favorite part was when my belly was really, really big. I just loved the sympathy looks people gave me and the extra special treatment. I can’t wait for two more times!!! I hope the next ones will be just as fabulous as the first.
263. I can't enjoy snorkeling, because I convince myself that a shark is sneaking up behind me. I really hate it when it starts getting darker and darker. TOO SPOOKY… No fish or coral is worth it to me.
264. I love yoga and pilates. I will take these classes again in the future when we have money for a gym membership.
265. I am 5'11.5" and always prayed that my husband would be taller than me. Vernon says he is 6'3", but I know he really is only about 6'1", on a good day.
266. I love living in a climate with seasons. I think it would be so boring to live somewhere where it is the same temperature all year long…even if it is a beautiful weather.
267. I hate when people let their dogs sleep in their beds with them. How disgusting?!?! Did you wash your dogs feet before letting him up there, because stepping in poop and dirt all day is what I want to sleep with. Eeeeeww!
268. I love having inside jokes with people. Vernon and I have a lot.
269. I am not loyal to any one brand of toothpaste. Whatever strikes my fancy at the time of re-stocking, I actually like changing it up!
270. I was a swaddling pro. Sophie loved to be swaddled until she was about 2 months old. She liked it really, really tight.
271. I LOVE foot rubs. My mom always rubbed my feet when I was younger. Vernon always teases me after he does one foot, he says HALF PRICE SALE and acts like he is only going to do one, but he does both!
272. I had a queen size waterbed from age 12 to 25. I loved it and I actually miss it. I even moved it every time I moved in college (4 times). YUCK
273. I always get ginger ale when I am on an air plane. It is really the only time I drink pop (see #190).
274. I think it is a waste of time when people break their eggs into a separate container, just in case they get a bad egg. Really, how often do people actually get a bad egg. In my 30 years, I have never and I do not know anyone who has ever gotten a rotten egg.
275. It irks me when something is being passed at the table and someone closes the lid or cap right before they pass it to you. Yeah, it may be the proper thing to do, but you then need to just open it right back up. Duh, just keep it open it’s going like only a few inches.
276. I HAVE to put on chapstick before I go to bed. I admit, I am actually a chapstick-aholic. I have one in my car, by my chair, in the diaper bag, in my work bag, by my bed, in my bathroom, in my craft room, and in the kitchen. I have to have one within arms reach at all times. I used to wear lipstick, now with a baby that I smooch on all the time, I need a transparent lip moisturizer!
277. I prefer college ruled paper over wide ruled.
278. I am a creature of habit. I have the same routine in the shower, applying my makeup and doing my hair. I do things in the same order. Sometimes, if I want to get crazy, I might put shampoo on after I wash my face or apply my body lotion before I dry my hair! Weird, I know!
279. At work we sign the youth’s points that we have them earn for their behaviors and I will match my marker that I use that day to the color of my outfit.
280. I am a Tetris champion. I used to play Tetris on our Nintendo when I was young. I didn’t play again for YEARS, then for one of my birthday’s Venron got me a Game Boy and Tetris game. I loved it and played it all the time. My mom also likes Tetris and we got her one for her birthday, we would exchange games to try to beat each other’s scores. She never even came close to mine!!!! HA!!
281. I hate when people say “kiddos” when referring to the youth that we work with at work. YUCK! It sounds so….fake.
282. I always got so mad when the whole group or class had to suffer because of one or two people. I always thought that was so unfair. Why not just punish the ones who messed up? I was always the good one and hated when people ruined things for me and made me pay for stupid things they did. Ugh, public school.
283. When I have a bunch of shows tapped on the TIVO that I haven‘t watched yet. I have to watch them in order that they were really taped and on tv. Like I have to start with Rachael, then The View, then Martha, then Ellen, then Oprah. Cooky I know.
284. I often plan what I would do if there was a fire right now in the house. I know where everything is at that I want to get out of the house (photos & all) and duffel bags to put everything in. Sometimes I want to do practice run-throughs, but I don't.
285. Late at night when I’m really tired, I start getting cold-like or allergy-like symptoms. Runny nose, sneezing, etc…It sometimes happens early in the morning too. I am not sure what it is or why I get it.
286. I have some irrational fears. I have re-occuring dreams about the house getting robbed in the middle of the night, even when I lived at home at my parents or my baby getting kid-napped when I am out on a walk and someone holds me at gun point and wants to take my baby.
287. I don’t swim in lakes anymore and I don’t really like oceans either. I don’t like when living things are moving around below me. I like to see the bottom and have cholrine and not swim where dead bodies have been, like lakes.
288. In my early twenties, I morphed from an extreme extrovert to more of an introvert. I still enjoy people, but I am just not terribly open about approaching others, starting conversations, being the center of attention anymore.
289. I like Neil Diamond, although I was arrested (the only time in my life) at his concert for taking a picture of him. The officers took me to a room and ripped my film out of my camera and I was not allowed to go back into the concert. My parents and boyfriend, Brandon were still in there. Brandon finally came out to see where they took me and we went out and sat in the car and waited till the end of the concert for my parents to come out. It sucked.
290. We only have one set of silverware. It’s what others would probably call “the good silverware.” We use it every day. It’s still good. I have no desire to own more sets of silverware. And don’t agree with only using certain dishes only certain times of the year. That is why I didn’t register for china for our wedding.
291. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people are late. I despise being late myself.
292. When I hang up husband’s shirts after laundering, the way I put them on the hanger is the opposite way he hangs them up (what can I say, I’m left handed). He hates that.
293. I switched all the hangers in my closet to white, and my clothes are seperated by colors.
294. The only brand of diapers I put on my baby is Pampers. Other kinds just don’t cut the mustard (or keep the mustard from exploding up her back).
295. I like to wear hats. I wish hats would come back into style as part of daily dressing. I look good in hats.
296. I have a very good sense of direction. I can follow directions to someone’s house usually by looking at a map only once. If I have been to someone’s house one time, I almost always can get to their house again even if it has been years and years since I had been there last.
297. I love the SOUND of stirring macaroni and cheese.
298. The first song that I danced with a boy to was “When a man loves a woman” at an employee’s party at Crescent. I think him name was Justin. He had blond hair.
299. Dog hair makes me angry. It's never ending and it gets everywhere. Kind of like glitter.
300. I hate Fox 42's newscasts and refuse to watch them. Those anchors so annoying and just plain goofy (in a bad way).
301. I like using quotation marks and parentheses in writing and talking " "!
302. My entire life I have always seen myself having three kids. I find it strange and awesome at the same time that it seems that what I want to happen, seems to happen. Like, I wanted a girl first, I got a girl first. I wanted a boy next, I got a boy second. I don’t know if it has to do with ‘The Secret’ and thinking positively and positive things will happen to me, or what, but I feel like everything happens for a reason and everything is already pre-planned.
303. I consider myself to be pretty optomistic. I try to look at the positive in all situations. Good or bad I feel like things happen for a reason and that reason is to teach you something.
Wow this was a long list and I could probably keep going, but I will stop for you own personal safety!!!
ok, I'll keep going:
304. I love fine tip pens the skinnier the tip the better. 0.1
305. I have discovered a new love. Shellac nails!!! They make my regular nails strong and protect them so they can grow. No chipping for 2+ weeks. They are great!
306. I am the proud mama to Vollen Van, born on April 22nd, 2009. EARTH DAY!!!! His Down syndrome diagnosis has brought so many wonderful people into our lives. It has made us better people and has given us a misson in life!
307. My third baby Ronan Patrick was born on February 22nd, 2011. He is a good baby and looks just like his sister.
308. After Ronan was born he was MSI (milk, soy, protein intolerant), so I cut out all dairy from my diet. After he was through nursing, I just stayed with it, because I was getting used to it and I already had don't the hard part. So, I gave up meat too. Vernon became a vegan too a couple months after me and we are now raising our kids vegan. We love it and are now comfortable cooking recipes. It
s easy and healthy and now we do it for the animals too.
