I wear my Sunglasses...

Today I took Sophie for a walk to the park. It was fairly nice out and we wanted some fresh air. This was the first time Sophie had her new sunglasses on. She did really good about not trying to take them off. After swinging on the swings she fell asleep on the way home from the park.

Last Night Idol Watcher

On Tuesday night it was about 10:30pm and Vernon and I were watching American Idol on TIVO, since I had a meeting earlier that evening. On the baby monitor we heard Sophie playing with her toys in her crib. Vernon was excited and wanted to go up and bring her down, since he got home after she was already in bed and hadn't seen her all day. So, he went up and got her and she was so excited to see him. She was wide awake. We continued watching Idol. Sophie was so intrigued. She was staring at the TV whenever one of the contestants was singing. It was really weird. Raja would even walk by and she didn't even look at Raja, she was just mesmerized by the songs. She loved hanging out with daddy though.

Kissy Face

Tonight after Sophie's bath, I was nursing her before bed and the garage door went up. Daddy was home!!! Sophie wasn't asleep just yet and Vernon came up stairs and peeked his head in her room to see if she was still awake. She heard him and popped her head up and saw it was her daddy and had a huge smile on her face and stuck her arm out to wave at him. She said, "Da da" through her toothy grin. He came over and swooped her up. She was so excited and couldn't stop grinning and kicking her legs in excitment. She put her hand on his face and leaned in and kissed him on the lips! It was the most precious thing I have seen. She then did the same thing again. She had never done anything like that before and it was so cute. Vernon and I were laughing and she was smiling. I had a tear because it was so sweet.

Grocery Store Yeller

So, today we went to Walmart to get a few groceries and Sophie thought it would be fun to start yelling at the TOP of her lungs. It wasn't a mad yell, it was just LOUD and LONG. She did it almost the entire time we were there. Everyone could hear her. Even 6 isles away! There were so many people looking at us, and usually I look half-way decent when I go to the store with at least my hair done and some makeup, but this day I decided just to go right after I worked out ~ bad idea. The people looking at us were at least really nice and gave me big smiles. I had ladies coming up and talking to Sophie and saying, "You go right ahead and let everyone know you are here!" It was pretty funny. I couldn't put my hand over her mouth because it was germy from the cart and dirty groceries. I just tried to shove her chew toy in her mouth and talk to her to shush her up ~ it didn't work. After a while I just laughed it off, there was nothing that was working.

When we got home I tried to get her yelling on video because she was still doing it and I did manage to get a little sample:

Today was nice weather, so we decided to go for a walk to the park. Sophie just loved being outside and looking around at everything. She LOVES going on stroller rides!

Stand UP!

Yesterday, at Grandma Lindeman's house Sophie stood up from a sitting position in the middle of the living room floor, both Grandma and Grandpa were watching. They looked at each other to make sure they saw what they thought they did. Then she did it several more times throughout the day. Then, she did it today when Grandma and Grandpa Schlueter were over visiting. Too fun! Before we know it she will be running around here!!!

Whaz Sat?

Sophie has been saying this new word or words, I guess. She whispers whaz sat? and whosat? in the form of a question. It is so cute. She does it all day long. She also points her finger up in the air and sometimes shakes it up and down like she is dancing like John Travolta. I have got to get it on video.

Nope, it wasn't an accident!

Yesterday afternoon Sophie walked TO ME for the first time!!! She was so proud of herself. She was smiling from ear to ear. I think she loves walking. So, its not like she's running around now, its whenever she feels like it, because I tried to get a video of it and she wouldn't do it again for me. Figures!

Another thing she did yesterday was took her baby spoon and fed herself a piece of banana that was on it. Which is weird because when we went to the doctor on Monday, the doctor said she will start grabbing for the spoon and wanting to feed herself. She was pretty accurate with it, I was surprised. I don't think we will be practicing with runny baby food any time soon though!

The baby stands alone

I have been meaning to blog about this, but there seems to something else to write about every time instead. Sophie has been standing without holding on for a couple weeks now (so, right before 9 months). It's not for very long, only a couple seconds or so, but exciting none the less. Yesterday, I was holding her on my lap and then put her down, I stood her up on the floor and she took two steps forward without holding onto my hands and then went down. I couldn't believe it. It was almost like I had to blink to make sure it really happened. I don't know if she even realized what happened. So, I don't know if that counts as taking her first step or not. I was sure excited though!!!

Trash Can Licker

Well, as you can see this is Sophie's new favorite thing. For one, she found her tongue last week. Two, she loves seeing her reflection in the mirror (or shiny trash cans). And three, she loves pulling herself up on anything and anywhere. So, put them all together and you have a Trash-Can-Licker. Yuck!!! Daddy is especially grossed out by this new stunt. Good thing we just cleaned it two days ago! Whatayagonnadoo????

A beautiful day for a SWING!

Today was so nice that we decided to get everyone out for a walk. We all know Raja sure needed it, poor thing hasn't been out since fall. She was sure feeling it too, getting slower and further behind towards the end. We walked to the park in the neighborhood across the street. I love it because it has squishy floors. The ground is made of ground up pieces of rubber and it is melted into a smooth surface and it is REALLY bouncy and perfect for little ones falling down and going boom. Anyway, we put Sophie in the baby swing for the first time. She loved it. We got it on video and wanted to share it with everyone. We will definitely be frequenting that park more often this Spring. (I love her little legs in the videos!)

Sorry they are sideways, now I know not to turn the camera on it's side. I wasn't able to flip the video right side up. Oh, well.

9 Month Well-baby Checkup

Today was Sophie's 9 month checkup. Her stats are: weight ~ 19lbs 8oz. which is 65%, height ~ 29 3/4 in. which is 97%, and head circumfrence ~ 43cm which is 50%. Everything checked out great. Her hemoglobin (iron) was a little low, but the doctor wasn't concerned, she is just going to check it again at the next appointment. She said we could add some apple juice with vitamin C to help her absorb the iron in her cereal she eats at night. Not much other than that, she is a healthy 'TALL' baby!

First Modeling Gig

Today was Sophia's first modeling photo shoot. It was for an ad for Pamida Stores (it should come out sometime this summer). She did so good at the shoot. She was all smilies from the time we came in the door. She was laughing and smiling at all the staff. It couldn't have gone better. They had her sit in a highchair and she got to hold onto her favorite rattle. The entire shoot only lasted 15 minutes and they got tons of good shots to choose from. I hope they request her more in the future since she was such an easy baby. It was an easy job and now we can start putting money into her Roth for her future!!!

Unkie Teeb

This past Monday Sophie's Godfather - Steve visited. They got to play and we took some picts. She didn't know what to think of him at first, but quickly warmed up to him. It was fun for him to see how much she has grown since he saw her last!

Toofers

This morning I found two more teeth coming in. So far she has 6, when the two new ones are in she will have 8 chompers total. She got her first two bottom ones when she was 4 months old, then pretty much 2 per month after that. Then there was a little break until now.
