Sophie has a new thing she likes to do. She uses Raja as a chair. She will start backing up and sit on Raja and then slide down to the floor and lay back on her. It is really funny and Raja just lets her do it. Sometimes she will put her arm around Raja's neck and pat her head. Too cute!!!

Family Time
Wedding Weekend
This weekend I was a bridesmaid in my friend Lori's wedding. I went to junior high, high school, and College with her. She dated her husband Mark for 8 years before they got married. They are moving to New York (Manhatten) on Tuesday. It was a fun weekend hanging out with all the girls. Sophie sure missed her mamma though.

Girl Time!
Today Sophie and I bonded. We were playing on the floor. I showed her how to brush my hair. She loved it! I thought it was so funny she would start playing with something else and then see the brush and pick it up and come over to brush my hair again. I was also laying on the floor and she would try to sit on me. She would start backing up toward me, sticking her booty out and start giggling. It was really funny. We had a good day together.

Easy Cheesy
Today when I was putting groceries away I accidentally dropped a Mini Baby Bel Cheese Round on the kitchen floor. Of course Sophie was right there to swoop it up. I was just going to let her play with it until I finished putting all the groceries away. I could hear her rusting the plastic trying to get into it, but I thought there is no way. It has a plastic wrapper on the outside then a wax coating covering the cheese. All of a sudden I look over at Sophie and she has cheese all around her face and has a big smile. I started laughing cause I couldn't believe that she was able to get into it and it reminded me of when a dog gets a hold of something like that and they are able to get into it. I was just hoping she didn't eat any of the wax coating, but she probably did.

Back to rear facing
Well, today I went to go get my car seat checked at the Greater Omaha Safety Council. It was by the same guy who checked my first car seat before Sophie was born. So, he asked me some questions before we started. He said she shouldn't be front facing yet!!! WHAT?!?!? I told him my pediatrician told me it was okay to go ahead and turn her around, so that is what I did and now I came into have the front facing seat checked. He said, they have updated the American Pediatrics recommendations for car seats. Have you ever watched You Tube? I said yes. He said type in WHY REAR FACING.
So, I had him go ahead and check the front facing anyway to make sure I had it right and would know how to do it once she did move to front facing (which by the way I had it correct!! Yea!!!), but so when I came home I looked that up on You Tube and there were so many videos on it.
It really does make sense and I had always thought it was a little early for her to be sitting front facing anyway. I mean, their necks are so tiny and fragile. I am so glad I went in today and learned this and can maybe help some one else learn from it and save their child's life! Needless to say I now have the old car seat back in the car and she can be in that until she is 30 pounds. So, that will be for a LONG time. Here is one of the better videos, please watch it:

Woof Woof
Sophie has been saying woof woof when she sees a picture of a dog or a real dog in person. It is really cute. We are working on other animal sounds now. She seems to be understanding things a lot more, getting into more mischief and is busy, busy, busy. At the end of the day the house is pretty torn up, at least she is having fun I guess!

First Owie
Couple more things from yesterday. After the climbing on the high chair incident, she was playing on her old car seat and it flipped forward and she hit her nose on the window sill. It is her first real owie. It was bleeding and we had to try to put ice on it. It didn't bruise, but there is a pretty bright red mark across her nose. Poor baby.
Then we discovered that she now likes watermelon!!! Yea! Vernon gave it to her from his mouth because she thinks that is funny. She took it and ate it and liked it!!!

Scary new heights!
Um today Sophie did something that made my jaw drop to the floor. Lets watch the video:
So, as you can see, it is getting a little scary around here. Yet more babyproofing that needs work. It is never ending!

Happy Father's Day!
Sophie went swimming with her cousin Skyler today. They had fun and Sophie sure got worn out, she was constantly in and out of the pool and running around. She was one tired baby and fell asleep before we were even a couple blocks away from my parents house. Both Vernon and I worked today, so Vernon didn't get to spend too much time with his daughter. But overall it was a nice day.

First Einstein Video
Today I played one of the new videos Sophie got for her birthday. She loved it!!! She would dance to the music and constantly ask 'WHAT'S THAT?' It was really funny.

Take a dip
Sophie went in the baby pool for the first time. Grandma bought a baby pool to put out on her porch and go swimming in. Sophie didn't really like it at first, but quickly warmed up to it. By the end we couldn't get her out of it. She loved riding the side down into the pool.
Big Girl Seat
Today was Sophie's first time riding in her front facing carseat. She loved being able to look out and around. She had to bring her baby with her too.

One Year Appointment
Today was Sophie's One Year Appointment. Here are her stats:
Weight: 20lbs 14 oz. 49%
Height: 31 in. 95%
Head: 43.5cm 10%
We got the go ahead to start her on meats and to change car seat to front facing. The doctor found two molars, both on the bottom! I can't believe I missed those!!! She couldn't believe that she was saying Hi and What's That. I was like, she talks a lot more than that and has been for a long time now, but of course she didn't say very much when we were in there. She did wave bye bye to her, that was real cute. She only cried for a minute after the shots. She was a good girl today.

Tornado
A tornado hit about 3 miles from our house last night. It hit a lot of houses and took a lot of people's roofs off and damaged a lot of trees and cars. SCARY!!! My dad called us this morning at 2:30am and said, ARE YOU IN THE BASEMENT??? I had just put Sophie down after feeding her and I thought I heard the sirens, but I wasn't for sure. When I was walking back into our room is when the phone rang. We went and got Sophie back up and grabbed Raja and went downstairs. They have all the footage on the news tonight and we can not believe that it happened literally up the street from us!!!

Happy Birthday Sophia!!!
Today was our baby's very first birthday!!! It has been a fun year, with each month better than the last. If the rest of her life is as good as this past year, we are in for a lot of fun. I can't believe how much she has learned and how fast she picks things up. We love you so much!!!

Hi-ee
Tonignt when I was nursing Sophie before bed she was being so silly. She would take like 2 gulps and then look at me and say Hi-ee and then take 2 more drinks and say Hi-ee to me again, I swear she did this 6 or 7 times. I was laughing so hard and told her stop saying Hi to me and just eat!!!

Take Raja for a Walk
This morning I looked up and Sophie had pulled Raja's leash and collar down from the hook and was jingling it and carrying it around the house. This video shows her running around with them and Raja thinks that she is going to go for a walk.
New Favorite Place to Play
Sophie has found a new place to play. She loves climbing in her car seat and just sitting in it and then getting back out and then getting back in, or she will throw toys into it. Then the other day I saw her standing up in it and jumping up and down dancing in it and holding onto her highchair that is right next to it. I got this video just after she was standing up in it.
