First Bridal Shower

Today I took Sophie with me to Lori's bridal shower. She was the hit of the party - center of attention (Lori was glad there was a distraction from her!) Everyone thought she was such a happy baby. She did so great being soical and showing off and even going to Lori's aunt and wanting her to pick her up several times (I think she may have looked a little like my mom). She said her new cute, cheery "HI" to everyone and was giggley and just roaming around the different rooms entertaining herself. All the ladies couldn't believe how good of a baby she was and asked me more than one time if she was always that good. I said, yep unless she is tired, they couldn't believe it. Two of the girls said if they were going to have kids, they would want one just like Sophie. I was one proud mamma today!

A day of visitors

Today we had two sets of visitors over. My cousin Hellane and here baby Isaac came over for lunch and to play. Then in the afternoon, Joy (my Matron of Honor) visited with her husband TJ and two girls Jayla and Reese. Sophie loved all the people over. She especially liked Jayla's baby doll and carried it around the entire time they were here and cryied when they left because she had to give the baby back. It was really good to see everyone!

Big Girl Food

For the past week or so Sophie has been refusing her regular baby food and cereal. She would push the baby food out of her mouth after I would feed her. I know she liked the taste, because she never had that reaction in the past to any of the flavors and gobbled all of it down every time she would eat. Now, she only wants to eat 'real' food. So, we have had to adapt to a whole new way of feeding her. I had to print off lists of food ideas for toddlers and rethink what to feed her at every meal. It is always a little daunting at first to adapt to the new changes, but she seems to like almost all the 'real' food I have given her. She loves every kind of fruit except that darn watermelon. She likes sweet potatoes and regular potatoes, she also eats breads and cheeses and yogurt, organic baby crackers, pasta, corn, green beans, hummus, applesauce, organic blueberry waffles, and egg salad. She doesn't care for the texture of cottage cheese and I haven't gotten the okay from the pediatrician for meats yet. Its sure been an adjustment having to THINK about what to feed her and not just mindlessly picking two flavors of baby food a day.

New Favorite Spot

Sophie has a new favorite spot she discovered today. It is the bottom shelf of our entertainment cupboard. She crawled in there and would just sit and giggle. She would then get out and then go right back in. It was really funny how she would just peek out at me and laugh.

First Watermelon

Today I gave Sophie watermelon for the first time. At first she ate it, then she started spitting it out. I don't know if she didn't like the flavor or the texture or both. We will definitely keep trying!!! This video cracks me up.

Kick

Yesterday I taught Sophie how to kick a ball. We were outside on the porch and I was kicking a Kick Ball against the house. Everytime I would do it I said "Kick". Well, this morning when she got up she saw the ball on the living room floor and she went over and kicked it. Then she would go follow it and kick it again. It was so cute. I grabbed the camera and recorded it. I really can't believe how fast she picks up on things. It is amazing!

Snap Happy

This afternoon I SWEAR Sophie tried to snap her fingers. It was helarious. She was dancing to one of her toys that plays little songs and she was clapping her hands and then she was trying to snap her finger. I couldn't believe it. So, I started snapping my fingers and she continued to try to snap. It was really cute and I was laughing, maybe you just had to be there.

Another really funny thing she did this morning was after she woke up and we came downstairs we were sitting in my chair and she looked over at the boppy and pointed and then did the sign for milk (with one hand you act like you are milking a cow) and then she said milk. I started laughing so hard. I have done the milk sign to her many times before I would nurse her and she has done it back a couple times a long time ago, but when she did it today, I just thought it was so neat how she just told me what she wanted. My baby is growing up!

Trip to the Zoo

Today we decided to take a trip to the zoo. It was a beautiful day (not too hot). Sophie had a great time. I think she liked seeing all the people more than the animals. She is a people watcher. It was a fun and relaxing family day.

She fell asleep at the end of the day. She was pooped.

Fever Broke

FINALLY the fever broke last night. I was so relieved. She didn't need any medication overnight. Vernon found little bumps on her trunck this morning, so she did have the Roseola Virus. I am glad that is over with. As I was reading up on it, I found that it is extremely common and almost every child will have it before they enter Kindergarden and if they have had it once, they usually are immune to getting it again. Yeah, hopefully we will all be back to normal.

Sick Baby

My boo boo has been sick for the past 4ish days. She woke up on Tuesday morning with a tempeture of 102.5. It continued Wednesday 103.5, Thursday 104.3, and still today Friday 103.8. I took her to the doctor yesterday and she displayed no other symptoms besides the fever. The doctor thinks it might be Roseola - which is just a sudden high fever that lasts for 3-4 days and when the fever starts to come down a poke-a-dot rash appears all over the body. I don't know if that is what is wrong, because her fever hasn't started to come down yet. We will see. Thank goodness for Motrin. It is the only thing that has worked to bring her fever down. I hate when my baby is sick. She has not been herself lately. She has not had a very good appetite, she has been clingy, and sleeps a lot!!! Poor thing.

My Surgery

My gallbladder surgery was yesterday and everything went really well. The pain feels a lot like my c-section just higher up. It feels like my abs were sliced in half and it is difficult getting up and down, but the pain meds really help. My mom came over to watch Sophia today so I could rest. Tomorrow Vernon's parents are going to watch her until Vernon gets off work. I am glad I have help with the baby and I am thankful everything went smoothly with the surgery.

Funny Girl

Nothing really new to report the last few days. I think she may be teething again. Lots of drool today and she has been grinding her teeth. I can't feel anything coming through. It was a nice and simple 1st Mother's Day. I worked 6:30-3:30, then spent the rest of the day with my baby. She is a good girl and I am so lucky she is an EASY baby!!!

This video is funny. Sophie's new favorite find is the STAIRS. She just learned how to go up and down and loves to play on them. She was able to some how manuver this cake box out of the cupboard even with the safety latch hooked. Then she carried it around and even up the steps. It made me laugh.

No No No

This week Sophie learned to say 'No No No' just like mommy says to her. It is really cute because she really emphasizes the 'O' by pushing her lips out in an O shape. She parrots pretty much anything I say now if I repeat it enough times. I can get her to say almost anything. We are working on 'Please'. She can say 'Thank You' pretty good, but she hasn't said please yet. Today we were coming downstairs and I said say hi to Raja. She said 'Hi Raja' in her little mumbly voice. I started cracking up. Today she also went up the entire staircase. Luckily she just learned how to go down the stairs. She lays on her belly and slides down one step at a time. It is still scary though.

Beautiful Day

Today I painted her toes a bright pink! A couple weeks ago was the first time I painted them and it was a light pink, in case they weren't dry it wouldn't get all over everything, but today I was a little more brave. She doesn't even seem to notice them.

Today Sophie and I hung out on the porch. It was very nice outside, warm with a nice breeze. She had fun exploring the porch and kept wanting to go by the stairs. We will have to rig something up there now!

A typical Monday

Just thought I would share some video and picts from a typical Monday around our house. Both of us are home and it is our 'weekend' day! We love relaxing and playing with the baby.

The first thing she says on this video is 'THANK YOU', if you can't tell! She just started saying it this past week. I think it is really cute and funny. I have been trying to get her to say it for a while now and sure enough she is finally saying it. I am glad I was able to get it on video.

This video is when Vernon put one of his dress shirts on Sophie and was playing with her. I love her little laugh, they had fun together.

New Heights

Guess where I found Sophie this morning?
Can we say...BABY GATES!!!

Daddy's Shoes

I thought these pictures were funny (even though the bottom one is blurry). Daddy's shoes are nearly as big as she is. A funny quirk about her is she loves to pick up really heavy items and carry them around.

Baby Bear

Sophie has this bear (thanks Aunt Grace) in her crib and every time I lay her down she is half awake. She crawls up to the top of her crib and grabs her baby bear and tucks it under one arm and snuggles with it and then goes to sleep. It is so cute. I just love watching her go look around for it. Sometimes in the morning she won't want to let go of it and wants to bring it downstairs with her. That is just what happened in the photos above.
