Finger Wagging

Before we left for our trip Vollen starting pointing his index finger (a very good milestone - isolating his fingers). I was super excited! When we got home from the trip he had started getting sassy with his finger. He will put it up close to his face and point at you and wag it and yell, like his is scolding you. It is the FUNNIEST thing ever. It cracks me up every time he does it. I don't know where he learned to do it because I don't do that. All I know is it is so funny. I got a tiny little snippet of it here on video, but I need to get more before he grows out of this phase. He does it all the time, so it shouldn't be hard. Some times he uses both hands at once. Helarious!

Also, just today he said 4 words. I knew this would happen. I knew the flood gates would open and everything would come spilling out. He was repeating so many things I said today. He said, "Out" to get out of his high chair. He also said his name, "Bubba". And "Thank you" and he does this all the time now, he yells at Raja. "RAJA" when she is barking at other dogs or people outside. He will yell it over and over. I do know where he gets this. We all yell at Raja to stop barking. It is really funny when he does it though because it is totally imitating us.

He is so busy lately too. He is ACTIVE and always on the go. He does really well playing independently. He will play with blocks or the kitchen or Sophie's princess dolls for such long periods of time. He can open doors and loves going in the laundry room and opening and closing the door. He likes opening the dryer door and all the cupboards with broken locks in the kitchen. He is so cute when he dances to music he hears on Sophie's videos. He flaps his hands and bounces up and down. It is so cute. He loves kissing and teasing his sister. He will go up to her and grab her head in his hands and plant one on her. She giggles and that gets him to giggle. They are cute together and love playing with each other. Sophie is sometimes too rough with him and I think she likes hearing his reaction when she pushes his down or makes him mad. Most of the time though she plays nicely with him. They love each other!

New Recipe

A friend at work gave me this recipe. I tried it tonight and LOVED it. It is SO easy, fast, cheap and tasty.
You find this little rice packet in the rice isle. At my Walmart it was on the top shelf. It's really cheap. Like $1.28 or something (I can't remember the exact amount, but it was cheap). You follow the directions on the package and make it on the stove. The only thing I changed was I used olive oil instead of margarine. It takes about 20 minutes to cook.
During that time, I cooked some chicken in a separate pan. I used about 5 small frozen chicken tenders from Sam's. I put some olive oil in the pan and just used salt & pepper and some poultry seasoning and cooked them until no longer pink. Took them out, let them rest for a couple minutes and let the juices re-distribute, then chopped them up into bite size pieces.
I threw these peas in the microwave for 5 minutes.
I also had a half of an onion in the fridge, chopped it up and sauteed it up in the left over olive oil and seasonings in the pan I cooked the chicken in. When the rice was done I added everything into the pan and stirred it up. It was SO good.Very flavorful, not spicy at all. It tasted a little exotic - Middle Eastern or Indian - from the Saffron.
The kids LOVED it. It was super fast to make because you can do it all while the rice is cooking. It also made PLENTY! Try it next time you don't know what to make for dinner. I promise you will love it!
